Starting my own business, Petal & Pine, wasn’t a quick decision, nor was it something I had always planned. It was inspired by a combination of my personal experiences, a genuine passion for helping others and my years of work in roles that centred around providing support to young people and families. The decision to start my own business was also driven by my desire to step away from the constraints of the traditional 9-5. I wanted the freedom to set my own schedule, work on my own terms, and make a more meaningful impact in a way that aligned with my values and passions. I realised that by helping others manage their businesses, I could create the flexible lifestyle I was looking for while also providing valuable support to those in need.
Having spent much of my career as a Childcare Specialist in a Residential Childrens Home and Targeted Support Worker within the Local Authority, I had the privilege of helping families and young people navigate some of life’s most challenging moments. Over time, I realised that the heart of my work wasn’t just about the practical support I provided, but also about creating an environment where people felt supported, organised, and able to focus on their next steps.
This insight led me to consider a new path—one where I could bring the same level of care and support, but in a different form. I saw so many professionals, especially those in the therapeutic and holistic fields, struggling to juggle their core work with the demands of managing their businesses. It became clear to me that I could offer something truly valuable. With my experience in staying on top of organisational tasks and managing complex schedules, I knew that I could help lighten the load for others, allowing them to focus on the work they are passionate about.
Petal & Pine was created with this vision in mind: to provide virtual assistant services that not only make life easier for busy professionals but also help them run their businesses smoothly and efficiently. From diary management to email organisation, I aim to give my clients the freedom to focus on what they do best. I believe that when you have the right systems and support in place, it allows you to be more productive and more present for your clients—something that is so important in today’s fast-paced world.
